Hiya, my name's Joe Willis.
(Pronouns: They/Them/'OUR KID')

I'm a Queer Northern writer who uses the vast worlds of genre storytelling to explore the extraordinary, surreal and macabre within the everyday. Often inviting you in through a unique lens of grounded settings, offbeat humour and a bittersweet tone. Think Alan Bennett meets Diablo Cody.

I have been selected for the following schemes: BBC Writersroom Northern Voices, BBC Children’s Voices, Sky Studios Table Reads, Screen Yorkshire Flex and have written for BBC Sketch Show The Amelia Gething Complex as well as had multiple short films funded by the BFI Network.

Currently I have projects in development with Candle and Bell, Tyke Films, Public Display of Affection Films, Real Time Stories and am also a BAFTA Connect Member, WGGB member and BIFA voter. I also regularly provide freelance Script Editing services for the BFI Network and have previously worked as Development Exec for Tyke Films.

Check out my resume HERE.
